    Donna (Robinson/Kordela) Diamond

“Robinson Crusoe” was one of Donna’s favorite books before Pirates of the Caribbean rolled around due to her maiden name.  She wrote to keep bullies away and travels in sync with her father and mother in the U.S. Navy.  Attending kindergarten in Japan she wrote her first horse story.  One day the teacher recited the names of Santa’s reindeer she cringed when they came to ‘Donner’ thinking they were referring to her name, Donna. Always a shy booklover, writing and reading became central in her life in her birthplace of Herrin, Illinois near to one of her fave actors, John Malkovitch.

Donna’s B.A. degree in comparative literature from S.D.S.U. and a magazine course put her on the path that continues today.  Her first article appeared in THE SAN DIEGO TRIBUNE titled, “A Waitresses Guide to Tippers,” where she combined humor with common sense.  She worked as a stringer after quitting a full-time job in State disability offices on a waiting list as a counselor trainee and never looked back.

This quickly led to offers fro markets such as THE LOS ANGELES TIMES SYNDICATE. Her sales include many women’s publications, including:  WOMAN, EXECUTIVE FEMALE, MODERN SECRETARY, and SCOUTING. Others include:  NEW BUSINESS OPPORTUNITIES, THE TOASTMASTER, NAUTILUS, THE CHRISTIAN SCIENCE MONITOR, OFF DUTY, THE ROTARIAN, THE LION, GRIT, ROCK AND GEM, GEM STONE NEWS, ORYX IN-FLIGHT, PACIFIC BAKER NEWS COLUMNIST AND NORTH COUNTY TIMES (TIMES ADVOCATE) with two social columns a week to churn out.

Along the way she started instruction at Palomar College as an adjunct instructor with a California Certificate in writing with emphasis on community college education. She’s enjoyed helping students improve, write and foster self-expression into many Medias.

She began writing fiction with JADE COVE and started writing more books that she now has to market in genres such as mystery, historical, western and paranormal. Agents and editors continue to say her ideas are original.  BY ISLAND POSSESSED is one of her favorites about two lovers reincarnated on Jamestown Island. Her story is short fiction and first appeared in GHOST MAGAZINE with MEDIUM on the cover.  Her anthologies include:  THE BOOK OF GHOST AND ANGEL MYSTERIES (Majolica, about a possessed doll wanting to find its owner in the French Quarter of La.) and SOUTHERN NIGHTS (The Ringmaster’s Witness).   She’s currently working on a book titled THE ALPHA PAIR about wolves and relationships.  Her western set in Calico is SUMMERHAWK along with RATE YOUR MATE with 1,000 Ways to Rate your fiancé, spouse, or sweetheart, a humorous self-help book.

Kordela aka Diamond continues to write from her home in North County San Diego along with three dogs and her husband of 32 years, Bill. She means no harm mentioning them in that order---they all keep her sane with the madness writing presents.  And Bill has never changed his mind since their engagement when he told her a planned move to Hollywood wasn’t necessary—she could write alongside him in San Diego at her home office. Enjoy!
